COURSE AIM:

To provide in in-depth insight into the myriad diversities of Mental Health maladies and to teach the Candidate how to respond to a number of critical categories.

TARGET GROUP:

This Course is ideal for anyone who wishes to become a Mental health First Aider and/or wants to retain a greater awareness of Mental Health issues.

  • How to create a Mental Health Action Plan
  • The recognition of symptoms
  • How to assess the risk of suicide or harm
  • Where to guide a sufferer to for Professional help
  • Self-harm
  • Depression
  • Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety Disorders, Generalised Anxiety Disorder
  • Panic Disorder, Phobic Disorders, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Acute Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
  • Psychosis, Hallucinations, Delusions, Schizophrenia
  • Drug Induced Psychosis, Substance Use Disorders, Alcohol, Tobacco and Caffeine
  • Prescription and Over the Counter Medications
  • Cannabis, LSD and other Hallucinogens 
  • Heroin
  • Self-Care for Mental First Aiders

DURATION OF COURSE:

This is a 1-day course

CERTIFICATION:

A 3-year certificate of validation

PRE-REQUISITE:

A minimum of 6 persons and a maximum of 15
