COURSE AIM:

This is an in-depth course, underwritten by FutureQuals, (the underwriter to the Qualifications provided to the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service NHS Trust), which afford the successful Candidate the clinical ability to provide a broad raft of life-saving, medical interventions and diagnostic skills.

TARGET GROUP:

Those wishing to operate as a Community First Responder, those wishing to join either the Emergency Services or many of the Private Ambulance Services, those who require registration under the S.I.A., those wishing to seek employment in the security, close-protection and shadowing spheres, or those wishing to take previously held First Aid skills to a much higher level of learning and clinical competence.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Dealing with catastrophic bleeding
  • Dealing with soft tissue injuries, dislocations and fractures
  • Dealing with a wide variety of life-threatening medical emergencies
  • Dealing with burns
  • Dealing with head injuries
  • The ability to carry out detailed, clinical observations
  • The modus operandi of the Triage System
  • Patient/Casualty handling and immobilisation
  • Patient/Casualty positioning to improve prognosis
  • Dealing with the 5 categories of shock
  • CPR and choking protocols for adults and paediatrics
  • The use of an auto-injector
  • The use of an Automated External Defibrillator
  • Advance airway management
  • The use of P.O.M. gases in the guise of Oxygen and Entonox
  • Detailed ability to carry out full, detailed, head to toe surveys
  • The use of a wide range of diagnostic equipment

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

This is an intensive, five day course with additional email/online support until 23:00 each evening

CERTIFICATION:

A recognised certificate of 3 years in duration must continue annual CPD

PRE-REQUISITE:

A minimum of 6 persons and a maximum of 12 persons

INSTRUCTOR:

Fully qualified, accredited and NHS registered
